Walt Balcavage is an Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM), Terre Haute, and Adjunct Professor of Biochemistry at Indiana State University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. During his career at Indiana University, Dr. Balcavage was Associate Dean of Research and Head of the Biochemistry Section.

In his capacity as a research scientist, Dr. Balcavage has published numerous original peer-reviewed articles dealing with Intermediary and Energy Metabolism. More recently, Dr. Balcavage has studied the impact of electromagnetic fields on living organisms.

Dr. Balcavage served in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army. He obtained his undergraduate training in the sciences at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, and his M.S. and Ph.D. at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE. Currently, Dr. Balcavage is President and owner of Consultants in Biotechnology, LLC, and he also holds the positions of President of Peer Medical Inc. and Director of Business Development for DesAcc Inc., two medical informatics companies.
